Beauty isn't what you look like; it's what you ARE like
So how do you think this impacts the Big Picture? Is this a reverse October Surprise?I'm thinking this should play well to people concerned about Obama's national security and defense experience. I've liked Powell for a long time, with the exception of a period from about mid-October of 2001 until his resignation from the Bush "administration."
I don't know, honestly. I really don't think there will be an October Surprise -- considering there isn't really enough time for one to effect opinion polls, and early voting has begun in the states that McCain would need to change.I also don't think that it's all that surprising that Powell is supporting Obama -- and not, as asserted by the Drug-Addled Gasbag, because they're both black. The reason it's not surprising is because Colin Powell knows that Obama's policies on the war, the military, and veterans are better by a yardarm than John McCain's. The active duty military knows it too, as is evidenced by their giving money to Obama over McCain in a 6:1 ratio. I'm just glad Powell came out and said something. He's helping the Obama campaign more than he knows.
